MTN deepens financial inclusion with grassroots community engagement

In a bold step to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide, MTN Nigeria has intensified its commitment to financial inclusion by engaging underserved communities across the country.

Through targeted outreach programmes and digital literacy campaigns, the telecoms giant is empowering individuals with tools and knowledge to access and benefit from digital financial services, thereby fostering inclusive economic growth.

The MTN Nigeria, in its 18th edition of the yearly Y’ello Care initiative, at the Isolo Public Library, at the weekend, where staff of the telecoms giant commenced this year’s outreach with cybersecurity training hosted by the company’s Finance Department.

The session drew participants from the local community, including students, small business owners, and digital enthusiasts eager to enhance their knowledge of online safety.

The training focused on equipping attendees with practical tools to protect themselves from common cyber threats such as phishing scams, identity theft, and online fraud—topics increasingly relevant in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

Speaking during the event, MTN Nigeria’s General Manager for Global Sourcing and Supply Chain Management, Adeola Oduntan, said the initiative underscores MTN’s commitment to not just connecting people but empowering them to navigate the digital world safely and confidently.

“As we continue to expand access to technology and mobile financial services, it is equally important that we help our communities understand how to stay safe online,” the official noted. “Cybersecurity awareness is a key part of building digital inclusion that is both accessible and secure.”
