Kamaru Usman secured a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Atlanta, held at State Farm Arena.
The former welterweight champion delivered a dominant performance across five rounds, showcasing superior striking, grappling, and cage control.
Usman landed 127 of 217 total strikes, achieving an accuracy rate of 58.5 percent. In contrast, Buckley connected on 28 of 94 strikes, with a 29.8 percent accuracy rate.
Usman also led in significant strikes, landing 31 of 73, while Buckley landed 24 of 90. The grappling exchanges were similarly one-sided, with Usman completing four of seven takedown attempts.
Buckley failed to secure a takedown or attempt a submission throughout the fight.
The judges scored the fight unanimously in Usman’s favor, marking a return to form for the fighter.
“I told you all I was bringing respect back to my name,” Usman said after his win.
The result improved his professional MMA record to 21-4 and halted a previous losing streak. Buckley’s record now stands at 21-7.
The UFC Atlanta event also saw victories from Edmen Shahbazyan, Raoni Barcelos, Mansur Abdul-Malik, and Alonzo Menifield. Usman’s victory reinforces his position as a top contender in the welterweight division.
