FIFA congratulates Remo Stars on NPFL title

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has formally congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on their 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title win, marking the first time the Ikenne-based side has clinched the domestic championship.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino sent his message in an official letter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau.

“By means of this letter, I am pleased to congratulate the new champions of Nigeria, Remo Stars FC,” Infantino wrote.

“Their constant efforts and results throughout the season have paid off, resulting in this important title.”

Infantino also acknowledged the role of the NFF in football development. “While thanking you and your Federation for your continuous support, work, and dedication for the development of football in your country, I look forward, dear President, to seeing you again soon.”

Remo Stars secured the NPFL title with a narrow 1–0 win over Niger Tornadoes on matchday 35. They later cemented their position with a commanding 4–1 victory over Ikorodu City on matchday 37, confirming their status as champions in front of their home fans.

The league win comes after back-to-back second-place finishes, reflecting the club’s progression and consistent performance over the past few seasons.

With this success, Remo Stars will represent Nigeria in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League. It will be their fourth consecutive appearance on the continental stage but their first as national champions. The club now shifts focus to translating their domestic form into a strong showing in Africa’s top club competition.

FIFA’s message places the team on the international radar as they prepare for the next phase of their development.
