Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has described President Bola Tinubu’s government as a disaster and said he feels lucky that he was not part of it.
El-Rufai, in an interview with AriseTV on Monday, said Tinubu’s government is causing more pain for Nigerians and is badly managing the country.
He said, “Whenever I wake up and I see the Tinubu government inflicting more pain on Nigerians and just bungling governance, the simplest things—these guys can’t even get it together. Whenever I see that, I thank God because I think God saved me from the embarrassment of having to be part of this disaster.”
He also said he expected Tinubu to bring in capable and qualified people to help lead the country, but that did not happen, saying, “I thought he would have a competent team. Look at his cabinet—it’s a joke. Maybe only five people there can be called real ministers.”
El-Rufai explained that he did not always get along with Tinubu, but he supported him because he was the party’s choice.
He added, “We were not close. I was a Buhari man, and Tinubu had his own group. But once he won the ticket, I supported him as a party man.”
He said one reason he supported Tinubu was because of his record as Lagos State governor, where he worked with people from different backgrounds and improved the state.
El-Rufai now claims that things have gone wrong and that he is unconcerned with the political consequences of speaking up.
