A 30-year-old Nigerian woman, who was simply identified as Loweth, was on Wednesday discovered dead in India.
According to local media reports, the body was discovered along Bettahalasur Main Road in Telecom Layout, North Bengaluru, around 8:30 a.m. by passersby, who immediately alerted the police control room.
The deceased was identified as “Loweth,” according to some documents discovered on her, and she was supposedly from Oyono in Cross River State, Nigeria.
Chikkajala Police suspect that there might have been foul play that led to Loweth’s death, as there is a strangulation mark on the body and an external injury on her forehead.
The officer also added that she may have been killed elsewhere and her body later abandoned in the isolated area.
The police officer said, “We have found out her identity and the place where she was residing. Unless we go through her documents, we can’t further comment. There is a strangulation mark on the body and an external injury on her forehead.
“A case of murder has been registered. We suspect that she must have been murdered elsewhere, and the body was dumped in the deserted area.”
Loweth’s body has been moved to Ambedkar Hospital’s mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Indian authorities are also investigating her immigration status, including whether she overstayed and the visa she used to enter the country, according to local media.
