Igbo apex group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Thursday, expressed dissatisfaction with the two-year administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying that his economic policies have been fruitless.
In a statement by the National Deputy President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group noted that Tinubu’s abysmal performance has marred the credibility of his government, leaving the ordinary citizen grappling with hunger and harsh ramifications of ineffective governance.
He attributed the alleged failure of Tinubu to what he called Yorubanization of his government and the incompetence of most of his Ministers, stressing that Tinubu still has two more years to address the situation and reconnect with the masses.
Isiguzoro commended the notable contributions of Senator Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, and Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, whose efforts in executing visible and verifiable federal road projects and infrastructure reforms warrant recognition.
He noted that Tinubu must summon courage to put an end to the “Yorubanization” agenda, which, according to Ohanaeze, compromises the integrity of our national unity, and instead embrace a paradigm grounded in competence and merit.
“Nigerians are enduring untold hardships as a direct consequence of the ongoing experimental leadership failures propagated by a cadre of incompetent ministers and political appointees,” he said.
“Moreover, we call on President Tinubu to demonstrate exemplary leadership by addressing the pervasive and ineffective economic policies that have proven fruitless over the past two years, and courage must be wielded in advocating for the creation of additional states, particularly two states in the Southeast.
“It is high time for a significant reshuffling of the cabinet, and we urge the President to take decisive action in dismissing not only ineffective ministers but to introduce proven leaders like Umahi and Wike to restore public confidence in governance.
“The uncomfortable truth must be conveyed unequivocally: President Tinubu’s two-year scorecard is heavily tainted by the incompetence and corruption of his appointed officials.
“The Nigerian people expect transformative leadership, and if this expectation continues to be unmet, the political landscape may shift dramatically by 2027, and those responsible for this administration’s failures are likely to position themselves within opposition coalitions, abandoning the President at the crucial moment.
“It is paramount that the Federal Government ensures that both ethnicity and religion are given due consideration in the forthcoming 2025 National Census. This will enable a restructuring of Nigeria that recognizes our diverse identity and propels a new era of electoral reforms to enhance our democratic process.
“We must convey an uncompromising, blunt truth: President Tinubu risks being abandoned by his Northern allies, including governors, if present trends continue as we approach the 2027 elections.”
