Police arrest suspected car thief, recover vehicle in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against vehicle theft, with the arrest of a suspected car snatcher and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Felix Clark, was arrested on Wednesday, May 5, 2025, by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit while on routine patrol along Abacha Road, GRA.

According to a statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, Clark was riding a bicycle when he was intercepted by the team led by ASP Attah Alih. A search of his person led to the recovery of seven master keys, which are believed to be used in the commission of the crime.

Further investigation revealed that Clark was in possession of a stolen red Hyundai Sonata with registration number EKY 531 GG.

She said: “The vehicle was recovered from Clark’s residence, and he has since made a useful statement, naming other members of his gang operating in Delta, Edo, and Lagos States,” Iringe-Koko said.

The police are currently conducting further investigations, and updates will be provided as developments unfold.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state. The Command encourages members of the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely and credible information.
