Nine persons have been rescued from a building that collapsed in Ikorodu area of Lagos on Tuesday.
The Guardian gathered that three people were trapped in the building as of the time of filing this report.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said that following distress alerts at 14:02hours, it activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans from Agbowa and Alausa.
“Upon arrival of agency’s tiger and lion Response Teams at the incident scene by 14:40hours, it was discovered that a two-storey building undergoing construction had collapsed, with three victims trapped under the debris at the aforementioned location.”
LASEMA, however, said that the cause of the collapsed building is yet to be ascertained as at the time of writing this report.
It stated that three people reportedly trapped, while nine adult males have been successfully rescued and attended to by LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Unit.
LASEMA added that no deaths has been recorded so far as a result of the incident.
It further said that search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
LASEMA Response Teams (LRT) from Agbowa and Command Control Centre, Alausa, are at the incident scene.
Other emergency responders include Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), NSCDC, Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
