Members of Island All-Stars Sports Club (IASC) converged on Skymore Cinema Mall, Ajah, at what was tagged ‘Manifesto Night’ to listen to the various officers on what they have to offer at the assumption of their various posts, towards steering the ship of the club for the next three years. 

The new election came on the heels of the expiration of the tenure of the previous officers. It was a night of display of rhetoric, as the contestants endeavoured to convince the electorates for nomination, as well as manifestation of ingenuity in answering hard questions thrown at them.

The outgoing President, Ikenna Maduagwu, said the fast growing club, has its presence in 87 countries with more than 400 members engaged in various sports, including football, lawn tennis, swimming, snooker, draft, table tennis among others. 

“Aside sporting activities, we also ensure individual growth of our members through collective support as we network among ourselves while we also incorporate our families into the programme tagged “family night” which comes up once a year with our wives and children. 

“Our corporate social responsibility include education which leads to organising what is described ‘the back to school system’ in collaboration with Lagos State Ministry of Education.  We visit public schools and give them educational materials running into millions of naira.  We also go to hospitals and assist indigent patients to offset their bills among others” he said.

Chairman, Independent Electoral Committee (IEC), Island All Stars Sports Club Inc., Chief Mandis Duruimo said his team was working tirelessly to ensure free and fair election come Saturday. 

“We are putting everything in place to ensure credible, unbiased, free elections that would usher in choices of the electorates for the position of the President of the great club and other officers such as Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Provost, Public Relations Officer, Assistant Public Relations Officer among others.
