A 45-year-Old entrepreneur, Amadi Kasiran, was reportedly killed on Sunday night by suspected ‘Yan Kalare’ thugs in the Hammadu Kafi community of Gombe State.
Kasiran, the proprietor of Amadi Kasiran Fabrications, a welding firm that provided employment to many, was said to have been attacked during a violent spree by the thugs, who had been terrorising parts of the state in recent days.
Residents claimed that the thugs attacked innocent people indiscriminately. Mukhtar Muhammad Rabiu, a local resident, posted on Facebook that the thugs stormed his community, stabbing multiple victims, including a patient recovering from skull surgery. He noted that the patient had to be rushed back to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Reacting to the incident, former governor and senator representing Gombe North, Ibrahim Dankwambo, expressed shock and sorrow over Kasiran’s death, describing him as a hard-working and industrious individual.
He urged the state government and security agencies to act decisively against thuggery, stating, “It is imperative for the state government and security agencies to end these heinous acts that cause injury and deaths, inflicting unforgettable pains on families and leaving children orphaned.”
The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Buhari Abdullahi, who stated that an intelligence-based investigation had been launched. He added, “All efforts are being intensified to identify, trace, and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime so they can be brought to justice.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also condemned the killing in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Isma’ila Uba Misilli. He described the act as senseless and completely unacceptable. Vowing to restore peace and security, he warned against the resurgence of thuggery and gang-related violence in the state.
