Labour Party senator begged to follow me to APC National Summit – Akpabio

The Senate President, and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Godswill Akpabio, has said that a senator who belongs to the Labour Party begged to follow him to the ongoing APC National Summit.

Akpabio disclosed this while addressing other party members at the ongoing APC National Summit on Wednesday afternoon.

The Senate President assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that more states will support him in the 2027 polls.

He added that the Labour Party senator, whose identity he didn’t disclose, was in his (Akpabio’s) car outside the venue of the APC National Summit.

“The number of states that are coming to you is increasing. As I was leaving, one senator was dragging my dress today,” said Akpabio.

“He said please take him there. I said you can’t come now and he is an LP senator. I don’t want to mention his name. He is in my car outside.”

Opposition parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party, have been losing members to the APC as a wave of defections sweeps the country’s politics.

A member of the House of Representatives who belonged to the Labour Party, Sunday Umeha, recently defected to the APC.

Umeha cited the crisis that has rocked the Labour Party as a justification for his defection.
