Catholic priest urges children to shun short cut to success

As the world commemorate Children’s Day, the Assistant Parish Priest, Emmanuel the Saviour Catholic Church, Asaba, Delta State, Anthony Egbunowon, has admonished Nigerian children to shun all social vices, saying there is no short cut to success in life.

Addressing hundreds of children from different backgrounds at the Catholic Church yesterday, Egbunowon told them to give maximum respect to their parents and the elderly ones in the society.

In her remarks, the Vice Chairman, organising committee of the Catholic Children Day, Jacqueline Marshall -Umukoro, urged government at all levels to celebrate the Nigerian child by prioritising their education and health, at all costs.

Speaking on the Theme: “Champion for Christ”, Marshall -Umukoro said children should be carrying along in the scheme of things, adding that they should feel energized and have a sense of belonging.

She described the children as the future leaders that needs all the necessary supports to grow and overcome the challenges ahead.

“They are our future, and if we are not paying attention to those behind us we have not really done anything.

“The children should be exposed to different professions, to blend with their peers anywhere in the world.

“Parents should give their children confident and self esteem for them to feel like super star, and such children will go far in the competitive world,” Marshall -Umukoro emphasised.
