Actor and filmmaker, Ibrahim Chatta, has said he is not bothered about being ignored by the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

He added that he has never submitted any of his films because he is not interested in the event.

Chatta made the remark during an interview with skit maker, Isbae U, where he was asked why he has never been nominated for the awards despite his long-standing presence in the movie industry.

According to him, “I am not interested, why will I be praying for what I am not interested in? Whenever I am interested, I will submit a film and give it to them to see.”

The 54-year-old actor also said he often wonders why he is not invited to the event, especially when he sees younger colleagues getting recognised.

“I have thought about it, why don’t they invite me, because I see younger people attending and winning. Do you know how many awards are in my house?” he added.

Chatta, known for his roles in Yoruba-language films, is also the founder of a film town and has won several awards outside the AMVCA platform.

The 11th edition of the AMVCA was held on Saturday, May 10, in Lagos. This year’s edition featured 28 categories, with “Seven Doors” by Femi Adebayo leading the nominations.

A new category, Best Music Score, was introduced to recognise creative efforts in film soundtracks
